Accetable Use Policy

Introduction

Under our Acceptable Use Policy, you may not use your account with us for any of the following purposes. If your account is used for any of the purposes listed below, depending on the severity of the abuse, you may

  1. receive an e-mail explaining the problem and asking you to rectify it
  2. have your account suspended until the relevant uses of your account have been removed
  3. have your account terminated.

For this reason, if you are in any doubt as to whether a proposed use contravenes this policy, you are advised to contact us and we will help.

Unacceptable Use

You are prohibited from using Oakhosting.NET's services to host, link to, or send out e-mails that link to, any content that:

  • constitutes pornography;
  • is excessively violent, incites violence, threatens violence, or contains harassing content or hate speech;
  • is unfair or deceptive under the consumer protection laws of any jurisdiction, including chain letters and pyramid schemes;
  • is defamatory or violates a person's privacy;
  • creates a risk to a person's safety or health, creates a risk to public safety or health, compromises national security, or interferes with a investigation by law enforcement;
  • improperly exposes trade secrets or other confidential or proprietary information of another person;
  • is intended to assist others in defeating technical copyright protections;
  • clearly infringes on another person's trade or service mark, patent, or other property right;
  • promotes illegal drugs, violates export control laws, relates to illegal gambling, or illegal arms trafficking;
  • is otherwise illegal or solicits conduct that is illegal under laws applicable to you or to Oakhosting.NET; or
  • is otherwise malicious, fraudulent, or may result in retaliation against Oakhosting.NET by offended viewers;
  • allows you to run, or in any other way underpins or supports, Proxy, VPN, Warez, Escrow, High Yield Investment Programs (HYIP), illegal Gambling and Lottery sites or services.

Bulk and Unsolicited Mail

In addition, any bulk e-mailing is prohibited as is unsolicited e-mailing to individuals or in bulk. This includes both e-mails sent from an account on Oakhosting.NET (whether or not the e-mail was to direct people to services hosted on Oakhosting.NET) or sent from another network but directing people to services on Oakhosting.NET. Our reputation is that we don't support SPAM, and we value that reputation very highly. Any account that causes any of our IP Addresses to be blacklisted on any anti-SPAM blacklist may be suspended without warning.

You are responsible for the security of your account, included keeping your passwords secret and changing them with appropriate frequency. You are responsible for keeping any scripts you host up to date, so that solutions to published security issues have all been implemented.

Copyright

You may not publish, distribute, or otherwise copy in any manner any music, software, art, or other work protected by copyright law unless you have been expressly authorized by the owner of the copyright for the work to copy the work in that manner.

Other Behaviour

You may not engage in abusive, illegal or irresponsible behaviour, including:

  • Unauthorized access to or use of data, systems or networks, including any attempt to probe, scan or test the vulnerability of a system or network or to breach security or authentication measures (including those belonging to Oakhosting.NET and its customers) without express authorization of the owner of the system or network;
  • monitoring data or traffic on any network or system without the authorization of the owner of the system or network;
  • Interference with service to any user, host or network including, without limitation, mail bombing, flooding, deliberate attempts to overload a system and broadcast attacks;
  • Use of an Internet account or computer without the owner's authorization, including, but not limited to Internet scanning (tricking other people into releasing their passwords), password robbery, security hole scanning, and port scanning;
  • Forging of any TCP-IP packet header or any part of the header information in an e-mail or a newsgroup posting; or
  • Any conduct that is likely to result in retaliation against the Oakhosting.NET network.
  • Use of Oakhosting.NET's network in a way that unreasonably interferes with Oakhosting.NET's other customers use of the network

Oakhosting.NET is under no duty, and does not by this AUP undertake a duty, to monitor or police our customers' activities and disclaims any responsibility for any misuse of the Oakhosting.NET network.
