cPanel®
Whatever web host you use, you will need to use a web browser to access an online control panel. You use this to manage your account, which includes all tasks such as setting up e-mail addresses and forwarding, looking at logs, uploading and moving files, keeping track on what resources you have used and managing databases.
Different hosts use different control panels. Some hosts write their own, while others use one of are a number of standard ones. We use one of the most popular, cPanel. cPanel is easy to use and you can do a lot with it. One of my favourite features is the file manager, which includes the ability to extract and compress “archive files” on the server, making installing something like Wordpress much easier.
Using cPanel also means that, if you have had web hosting before, you may well find our control panel familiar. Equally, if you find yourself wanting to help a friend with their hosting, the chances are you'll be well placed to help.

Free Migration
Using such a popular control panel means that we can offer free migration for new customers. If you have a hosting account elsewhere, and if that account uses cPanel, all you need to give us is the login details to your account with them and we will bring everything over to your account with us. This is a free service. (Don't tell you old host that you're moving elsewhere until we tell you this migration has completed. It takes up to 48 hours for the whole internet to learn about the switch).
There is one small caveat, and that is that a small number of hosts prevent you from using cPanel's backup feature that we would need to do this. For this reason, we don't guarantee that we'll succeed in migrating your account, but we almost always do. Even if your old host has locked down cPanel backup, or even if you are with a host that does not use cPanel, we'll do the best we can to migrate your files and e-mail accounts to us - it will just take a little longer and will need a little more information from you.
